Yesterday we had a customer who needed a shipment taking to Slovenia for a dedicated van as a matter of urgency. I received a call from the driver at 11pm last night who was at customs clearance office at Sevington preparing to leave the UK and there was an issue with the paperwork.
I called my customer and then called my customs clearance agents who also offer an out of office service and got it sorted in half an hour and the driver was able to leave the UK and continue on his way.
We appreciate that transport isn't a 9 - 5 job and whilst most companies shut at 5 we work 24/7
If we didn't offer out of ours service that issue wouldn't have been sorted till this morning and the driver would have missed his ferry. Rather than delivering the load Thursday it could have had a massive knock on effect and not been delivered till Monday potentially costing the receiver tens of thousands of euros in down time waiting for these machine parts.
